What Are People Saying About Westchester Food Safety? Real Reviews, Real Experiences, Real Results
By Frank Madaio, Owner and Instructor at Westchester Food Safety
When I started Westchester Food Safety, my goal was simple: help food service professionals earn their ServSafe Food Manager Certification while making the learning experience informative, straightforward, and as stress-free as possible.

Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand the challenges restaurant owners, managers, and employees face every day. Between managing staff, serving customers, controlling costs, and meeting health department requirements, finding time for certification training can be difficult.
That is why I have always believed that food safety training should be practical, informative, and focused on helping people succeed.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with restaurant managers, food service professionals, and businesses throughout New York and Connecticut. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is hearing from students and clients after they complete their training.
Here is what some of them have shared about their experiences with Westchester Food Safety.
Professionalism and Personal Attention Matter
One of the things I take pride in is making myself available to students throughout the certification process.
Laura Fiore, a manager at Roosters Wings and Brew, shared the following feedback:
"You were always so professional and prompt in assisting us with the course and the test."
She also expressed that she would return when it was time to renew her certification.
For me, this kind of feedback means a great deal. I want every student to feel that they have someone available to answer questions, explain the process, and help them understand what to expect.
Helping Students Understand the Material
Passing an exam requires more than memorizing answers. Students need to understand food safety principles and recognize how to apply them in real-world situations.
Victoria Pelligrino shared positive feedback about the study materials and classroom instruction, explaining that the information reviewed during class was informative and helpful on exam day.
She also credited the teaching style, friendly manner, and her own preparation as factors that contributed to passing the exam.
That is exactly what I strive for. I want my students to leave class with a stronger understanding of food safety, not simply a collection of facts to memorize.
Making Certification Easier for Restaurant Managers
Restaurant managers have demanding schedules. Coordinating training for several employees can be even more challenging.
Lee Gross of Organic Pharmer described his experience after using Westchester Food Safety to certify a group of key managers at two locations.
He praised the flexibility in scheduling and location, the study materials, and the straightforward registration and certification process. He also reported that the group passed their exams.
Feedback like this reinforces why I offer private group training options. When businesses need to certify multiple managers, I work to make the process convenient while keeping the focus on effective preparation.
Why I Believe Personal Instruction Makes a Difference
I have always believed that students benefit from being able to ask questions, review challenging subjects, and receive explanations from an instructor.
Food safety involves important everyday responsibilities, including:
Proper handwashing and personal hygiene
Preventing cross-contamination
Cooking, cooling, and reheating foods safely
Monitoring food temperatures
Understanding food allergies and allergen cross-contact
Cleaning and sanitizing correctly
Following safe food storage and date-marking procedures
These are not just exam topics. They are practices that help protect customers and support safer food service operations.
My goal is to explain these subjects in a way that makes sense, whether someone is taking the certification exam for the first time or renewing an existing certification.

A Reputation Built on Service
I am proud that Westchester Food Safety is recognized as a five-star-reviewed business. But what matters most to me is the feedback behind that reputation: students who feel supported, managers who appreciate the convenience, and clients who find the training useful.
I never take that trust for granted.
Every class is an opportunity to help someone advance professionally, meet certification requirements, or become more confident in their food safety responsibilities.
I also recognize that food safety education is an ongoing responsibility. My goal is to continue providing informative training and helping food service professionals understand why safe practices matter.
